Ok, we've read all the specs, but some of that Jargon will make no sense to a casual computer user. Why should I buy a card that features all these interesting sounding technologies if I have no idea what they are? In this section I will go into a little detail on each of these. Quad Pipelines Unheard of in a mid range graphics card until now, the pipelines are what is responsible for pumping out the massive amounts of pixels per second. The quad pipeline architecture allows six textures to be processed on each pass on each of the four pipelines. What this means to you gamers out there is vastly improved visuals and a better gaming experience. Charisma Engine II The Charisma Engine 2 is a hardware geometry chip that takes all the effort off your CPU when processing complex 3d scenes. This means complex shapes, perfect spheres and smooth scenes are all possible onboard the card. The engine is the heart of the graphics card and an engine as powerful as this is sure to be future proof. Smartshaders If you haven't tried a high end graphics card you may not have seen the technology that calls itself The Smartshader. This is a fairly new, advanced graphic technique and as still only supported in a small amount of games. One of the best looking games around, when using a Smartshader compatible card such as the 9000 Pro, is Bethsoft's Morrowind. Take a look at the screens below for a look at the game running on a Geforce 4 MX compared to the Radeon 9000 Pro. Anisotropic Filtering Another technology built into the card to allow for improved graphics. This enhances the sharpness of a scene by sampling textures more often. The difference with it enabled is astounding, as can be seen in the below shots of Return To Castle Wolfenstein. Smoothvision Smoothvision is ATI's answer to full scene antialiasing, which smoothes out jagged edges on objects within a game. As you can see from the shot of Nascar below, look at the differences in the cars with and without this enabled. Enabling this option does come at a price though, most high end games do lose a lot of frames per second while using smoothvision. I choose to leave it off during play on the Radeon 9000 pro but you may prefer to switch it on if you are willing to trade speed for image quality. Full stream Full stream is the technology that video enthusiasts have been waiting for. It is a brand new hardware accelerated filtering technique that improves the look of video by removing the blockiness associated with mpeg and the like. Full stream is not yet available because there is no software to support it but in the future it will be used in all kinds of video applications. Duel Display Duel display is nothing new. It has been around for a while and most new video cards support it. The Radeon 9000 Pro is no exception, sporting VGA and DVI ports. The card even comes with a DVI to VGA adapter in case your second monitor is not a fancy digital one. Hooking up the two monitors is simple. Also, included in the driver package is a useful feature called Hydravision. Hydravision allows you to do a lot of cool effects using two monitors from fading in and out windows to sending certain applications to different monitors. This all worked flawlessly. You can see from the below shot how I keep my chat programs on one screen and my main workspace on the other. You can also see that I am doing all this while writing this review. Zrodlo http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rid=49071 Radeon 8500 When we look purely at the Graphics processor's features compared to the Radeon 7500 then we can tell you it supports an excellent Hardware T&L engine, TruForm, a swell rendering technology that helps to deliver the smoothest, most natural 3D images ever seen on existing and next-generation 3D games and SmartShader technology. This is an advanced technology that makes use of Microsoft's new DirectX 8.1 specification, including supporting Pixel Shaders Version 1.4 to enable more complex and realistic texture and lighting effects without sacrificing performance as it is calculated on-board. Further technologies include: HYPERZ™ II, a next-generation memory bandwidth saving technology, that boosts rendering performance by 25 percent. PIXEL TAPESTRY II, the Radeon 8500's 3D rendering engine, which uses four rendering pipelines to process an incredible 2 gigatexels per second for the highest fill rates in 32-bit color at high resolutions. CHARISMA ENGINE II, which supports full transform, clipping and lighting (T&L) at 62.5 million triangles/second peak processing capability. HydraVision, ATI's world-leading, multi-monitor desktop management software optimizes the dual display experience with user controllable shortcut keys and individual application settings. The Radeon 8500 takes advantage of HydraVision with its integrated dual display controllers, enabling true dual monitor support, for the first time in a high-performance gaming product. VIDEO IMMERSION II, a second-generation technology that enables integration of industry-leading digital video features, including DVD (digital versatile disc) video playback and advanced de-interlacing algorithms for unprecedented video quality. Truform - One of the biggest beefed up features of the Radeon 8500 is Truform. I personally find this new technology one of the most interesting of this videocard release. It's a new technology that brings realism one step closer to the virtual 3D world. The following information was build for the bigger part based on authentic ATI documents. A problem with most 3D games is that objects and persons can look 'blocky' .. Basically these are geometric blocks with textures painted on them. This blocky computer generated world is generally a result of limited bus and memory bandwidth. Truform is the hardware implementation of the high order surface technology developed by ATI known as N-Patches (DirectX 8/8.1) or PN Triangles (OpenGL). This technology enables game developers to create a virtual world which is more lifelike by smoothing out the silhouette of characters and enhancing the lighting effects. This creates a environment that looks more natural and photo realistic. This Technology is very flexible in that it can support current shipping games as well as future games. For current game, the game developers only need to create a patch which enables the feature to be turned on if the game detects a Radeon 8500. This benefit is clearly shown with the bundled games with the Radeon 8500. The Valve Software games bundled with the Radeon 8500 all have Truform enabled and Valve will also release a patch to the existing install base of their games to enable Truform on Radeon 8500 graphics cards. The way that Truform works is by taking the present model that developers create for games such as these dolphins in the image below. The content that developers create for today's game would consist of about 40 polygons, just like this particular dolphin. As you can tell the light reflecting off the dolphin does not look very realistic and the edges of the dolphin look very blocky. With the help of Truform , once the model is processed through the Radeon 8500, the chip takes this model and tessellates the polygons to give it a smoother surface. Tessellation creates more polygons as seen in the illustration below, and thus creates more vertices. The increased numbers of vertices enable more accurate vertex lighting effects. This creates more realistic lighting effects that bring out the 3D nature of objects and characters. Truform provides developers with the capability to generate smooth and realistically lit surfaces with a minimal cost in model preparation, code modification and rendering performance. With just a triangle's vertices and vertex normals, the Truform surfacing method is able to generate three-sided cubic Bezier patches, accompanied by a set of varying (linear or quadratic) normals, giving computer game players smooth, realistically lit models. Truform really is great to look at. We tested the very demanding and new 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein' with this option enabled. It really is a lust for the eye. However, as with all technologies there is a downside, in this case it was a drastic loss of performance. In 1024x768x32 bit we moved from a silky smooth framerate towards a barely acceptable framerate on a 1200 MHz PC. It's very likely that with future driver releases this technology will get faster, yet a fascinating feature .. The next technology ATI integrated into the Radeon 8500 core is it's excellent SmartShader technology. ATI's SmartShader technology represents a new generation of programmable, hardware-accelerated graphics pipelines. The technology was developed with a keen eye toward maximizing efficiency and minimizing common performance bottlenecks, especially memory bandwidth. SmartShader technology is an extension of the Vertex Shader and Pixel Shader programming languages introduced by Microsoft in DirectX 8.0. While these shader languages were a good first attempt at bringing programmability to graphics hardware, experimentation revealed that they had a number of limitations that offered many opportunities for improvement. Developers of 3D graphics applications have always had difficulty creating realistic computer generated characters, objects and environments that can be interacted with in real time. The limitation has been a lack of available processing power combined with the restricted flexibility afforded by existing graphics hardware. There has always been a trade-off between performing operations on the CPU, which allows more flexibility due to its general and programmable nature, and the graphics processor, which allows better performance due to its hard-wired and heavily optimized architecture. While the rapidly increasing speed of graphics processors has enabled a significant amount of progress, and while they have been steadily taking over many of the tasks formerly handled by the CPU, there are many interesting and useful graphical techniques that have remained out of reach because they require a combination of speed and flexibility that neither existing CPUs or graphics processors could adequately provide. What is needed is a technology that combines the speed and optimizations of a dedicated graphics processor with the flexibility and programmability of a CPU, allowing a virtually infinite range of visual effects at interactive frame rates. The first attempts at introducing this kind of technology were successful in increasing the number of effects available to developers, but still suffered from a number of limitations in terms of both versatility and performance. SmartShader technology, developed by ATI, removes these limitations to free developers' imaginations. The key improvements offered by ATI's Smartshader technology over existing hardware vertex and pixel shader implementations are: Support for up to six textures in a single rendering pass, allowing more complex effects to be achieved without the heavy memory bandwidth requirements and severe performance impact of multi-pass rendering A simplified yet more powerful instruction set that lets developers design a much wider ranger of graphical effects with fewer operations Pixel shaders up to 22 instructions in length (compared to 12 instructions in DirectX® 8.0 Pixel Shaders) allow more accurate simulation of the visual properties of materials Ability to perform mathematical operations on texture addresses as well as color values, enabling new types and combinations of lighting and texturing effects that were previously impossible http://www.guru3d.com/review/ati/radeon8500/ Radeon 9000 powinien sie nazywac wyciagajac wnioski ze specyfikacji - Radeon 8200

SpiderMAN odpowiedział(a) na Beatles temat w 2002: Sprzęt, podkręcanie, modyfikacje
Procka podkrec poprzez podniesienie magistrali (FSB). Grafike mozesz podkrecac bez zadnego programiku. Mozesz to zrobic w zakladkach sterownikow. ;) -
