The actual 9500's are built on another PCB which uses traces only for a 128-bit bus (people commonly make the mistake of thinking there's something different about the ram used in a 128-bit bus card and a 256-bit bus card--there's not--it's the design of the bus on the PCB which is different.) *chuckle* There's no way to turn a 128-bit 9500 into a 256-bit 9700, unless you have a prototype board--or a very early 9500--which was manufactured using the 9700 PCB. It's amazing to me how in the dark Ixbt can be at times. Aren't they aware that the 9500's are no longer being built on the 9700 PCB? The differences are clear and obvious, and the fact that ATI changed the 9500 PCB prior to shipping in quantity was well covered on the Internet weeks ago--you can tell the PCBs apart merely looking at pictures of them--it's that obvious. In a 256-bit bus card you can see bus traces on all four sides of the ram chip. In the 128-bit bus PCBs you can see traces only on two sides of the ram chip. There is absolutely no way that anyone can change *that* with a resistor. *chuckle* It'll be interesting to see if they have the guts to run this article in english. Good grief. Tell the truth, I'm surprised Rage3D dignified the story by carrying it.

A "synchronous 400" mode with 200MHz system bus and 200MHz memory is the best there is, but very hard to achieve. For starters you need an unlocked Athlon XP and not many people can be bothered dicking around with the cpu bridges anymore. What I am getting at is that running KT400 boards at 166/200 does not make sense. Much better to stay at 166/166 and tweak the ram timing settings in the bios.
